ENG vs IND: Aakash Chopra Says India Made Bazball Lick Dust at Edgbaston

Aakash Chopra has heaped praise on Team India’s emphatic 336-run win at Edgbaston, calling it a landmark moment in the country’s Test cricket history. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former India opener described the triumph as both "record-breaking and record-making". He also reflected on how India have continued to conquer overseas grounds where they had never won before, including this latest feat at Edgbaston.

India’s win in the second Test was a dominant show of strength. After going 0-1 down in the five-match series, the visitors made a comeback in Birmingham to level it 1-1. Edgbaston, traditionally a tough venue for India, finally witnessed a breakthrough win. Gill's double-century in the first innings laid the foundation.

The bowling unit came together when it mattered most. Mohammed Siraj’s six wickets in the first innings and another six wickets by Akash Deep in the second innings gave India complete control of the match. England’s Bazball approach came up short under pressure. The visiting side picked up all 20 wickets without Jasprit Bumrah and never let England gain momentum across the five days.

Aakash Chopra Lauds India’s Historic Edgbaston Win, Says "We Made Bazball Lick Dust"

Reacting to India’s historic win, Chopra expressed delight over India’s growing list of overseas victories and how they continue to rewrite records. He said this win at Edgbaston joins the league of famous triumphs at the Gabba, Cape Town, and Perth. He also hailed Gill, Siraj and Akash Deep for their performances.

"It was both record-breaking and record-making. History has been created at the Edgbaston ground. Captain (Shubman) Gill had laid the foundation, with a mountain of runs. More than 1000 runs, the first time ever in the history of Indian Test cricket, and then if it was Miyan Magic (Mohammed Siraj) in the first innings, it was Akash Deep in the second innings," Chopra said as quoted on his YouTube channel.
"We had never won at Edgbaston to date, but we have done that now. If we see the last few overseas wins, we have created history every time. We had never won in Cape Town, the Optus Stadium in Perth, and the Gabba, but we have won there now. We are conquering frontiers we hadn't conquered thus far. We made Bazball lick dust. This win needs to be celebrated. We have outplayed the opposing team in every department," he added.

Looking ahead to the third Test at Lord’s, beginning July 10, Chopra also spoke about possible team changes. He highlighted how most of the damage was done by just two bowlers in the match and welcomed Bumrah’s return, as confirmed by Gill.

"What will be the road ahead from here? Of course, we have won this Test match and have picked up 20 wickets, but we should also be pragmatic. In the bowling attack you played, two bowlers actually got you all the wickets. The other bowlers didn't contribute that much. When we reach the Lord's ground, if (Jasprit) Bumrah comes, Prasidh Krishna will go out," Chopra stated.

With the series level at 1-1, India will head to Lord’s with momentum on their side. Bumrah will make his return to the playing XI in the third Test, most likely in place of Prasidh Krishna.

Meanwhile, England have added Gus Atkinson to their squad for the third test. Ben Stokes has hinted about changing their bowling combination. Jofra Archer might also make his comeback in Test cricket at Lord's.
