India’s Collapse Dampens Spirits on a Tense Final Day of Lord's TestÂ
While the crowd was thrilled by Akshay’s presence, the mood turned anxious as India struggled in the opening session of Day 5. The visitors faced a rapid collapse under pressure from the English pace attack while chasing 193 runs. Rishabh Pant was the first to depart. He was clean bowled by a jaffa from Jofra Archer that beat him all ends up.
Shortly after, England captain Ben Stokes trapped KL Rahul in front. The on-field decision was not-out but the review went in England’s favour. Things worsened when Washington Sundar gave a caught and bowled chance to Archer, who plucked a stunner.
India’s troubles did not end there. Nitish Kumar Reddy was dismissed at the stroke of lunch by Chris Woakes.Â
At the time of writing, India’s score reads 135/8 with Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah batting on 36 and four runs respectively. India need 58 runs to win.
